Starting half way
So I have now gone through half my internship already. I am enjoying it more than I could have hoped. The work is even more challenging than last summer so I'm always kept on my toes. As for my mentor, she is Canadian and makes sure that I always have enough to do. She has really made this summer really enjoyable and I would love to come back and work with everyone on my team.
Speaking on this topic, my review is on Monday(8/1) and I will find out how I am doing in the eyes of my superiors. I feel that I am doing a good job but it's a little harder to tell this summer. Whatever the outcome, I am not worried as I know I am meant to stay here for at least the next few years.
I have currently set up shop in San Mateo which has proved to be a great location as it is in the middle of everything. It takes only 25 minutes to get to work, 25 minutes to get to the city and 35 minutes to get to church over in Oakland. I really enjoy this location although it is a bit hard to get people to come and visit as it is a bit out of the way sometimes. The Caltrain is about 5 blocks from my house and so I take that to work everyday. Microsoft picks me up from the train station and takes me right to work, it really couldn't be more convenient!
This summer I have a wonderful roommate Micah. He is a professional violin player and friend of mine from Santa Barbara. He is currently finishing up an EMT(Emergency Medical Technician) program which will eventually enable him to become a firefighter. It has been such a wonderful summer living with him. I have someone to pray with, read the bible with and most importantly, hold me accountable for my life every day. We have really felt God this summer in a powerful way and hope to continue this great trend.
Micah's girlfriend and my good friend Dani has also been an important part in our growing as she makes us the "three amigos". We all have quite a blast when we hang out. Play hard and pray hard for eachother, it's truly the best. Although there are not many interns at Microsoft down here this summer (roughly 20), these two have made my stay here better than I could have ever hoped. I know they secretly work for Microsoft cause they're my intern buddies! =)
Anyways, I think thats all I've got for now. Check back for more updates on trips and pictures. More good times are definately coming...

Hey!...I know that guy named Micah! Pretty well actually! I'm so happy that Micah has been blessed with meeting and becoming close friends with you. God bless and it was wonderful to finally meet you over the phone. ~Katheryn N.
